The Nigerian Community in South Africa has once
again been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of a 17-year-old
Nigerian boy identified as Denni Chinonso Obiaju, in Johannesburg on Saturday
July 20th.
Obiaju who lived with his guardian, Mr Mike Nsofor,
in Rooderpt, Johannesburg, was said to have gone to a shop to buy an item with
a friend when they were both chased by a yet-to-be identified person who opened
fire on them. Obiaju died instantly.
The President of Nigerian Union in South Africa,
Adetola Olubajo, who confirmed the incident, said the family of the deceased
have agreed to bury him in South Africa since he was born there. Olubajo called
on the Federal Government to urgently protect Nigerians in the Diaspora.
This unfortunate incident comes few weeks after a
Nigerian Insurance expert, Mrs Obianuju Ndubuisi-Chukwu, was killed by yet to
be identified persons in her hotel room in South Africa.
