The spiritual head of Divine Universal Churches Int'l Rev Dr Olaiwola Mercy has faulted the agreement between the Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN) and the Federal Government to close down the religious centers in the middle of March this year because of corona virus as crude, unbiblical and spiritually insensitive.
The federal and state government with the religious leaders agreed to close down the worship houses and the economy to curb the spread of covid-19.
The clergy- man, while addressing journalists in Abeokuta blamed the continue spread of the deadly disease in Nigeria as a results of inability of CAN executives both at the national and state levels to know that this kind of pandemic can only be addressed spiritually.
He also decleared that CAN should have consulted other stake- holders before the agreement and therefore their failure to carry other stake- holders along is a betrayal, adding that if herbal doctors claimed that they have cure to the pandemic, "can't we pray to God who created the herbs to destroy the virus".
He further said that the leadership of CAN should have invited highly anointed men of God and declare 7days prayer and fasting to address the situation at the initial stage not when the virus has blown up.
"Amos 3:6 says shall a trumpet be blown in the city and the people not be afraid, shall there be evil in a city and the Lord hath not done it".
He added that all that happened to the entire human race is known to God, they should not have locked God out of His house, moreover there are some countries which did not experience the pandemic, why is Bishop David Oyedepo emphasising on opening the churches after the opening the markets because the man had seen the spiritual implications of closing down the house of God.
The Rev finally urge the government to open the churches and mosques to allow congregational prayers because congregational prayers leads to congregational anointing which can destroy the yoke of covid-19, except we invite God to deal with the pandemic all human efforts to deal with the pandemic will be exercise in futility because Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, the builders are working in vain.
