The Transition Committee Chairman of the Local Government, Alhaji Bode Fagbenro who made the call while playing host to the State Sector Commandant of FRSC, Hammed Umar in his office at Ilaro, assured that his administration would not relent at giving support to the Command, particularly in the provision of accommodation.
Fagbenro pointed out that safety of lives of road users was paramount to the present administration in the State, expressing optimism that the Command would not hesitate to deploy its officers and men to the council area.
"I want to appeal to you to locate an area office in Ilaro, being the Headquarter of Yewa South Local Government. We will see what we can do to give you the necessary support needed to make it a reality especially in the area of accommodation", Fagbenro said.
He described Commander Umar as a visionary leader, who has a crop of professional and hardworking officers capable of delivering the mandate of the Command.
Speaking earlier, the State FRSC Commandant, Hammed Umar, described the existing peaceful atmosphere in Ilaro as captivating and loving, which he said had provided avenue for people in the area to continue to move about their normal activities without fear or hindrances from any quarters.
Umar who assured that the authority of FRSC would influence the reconstruction of Owode -Ilaro - Idiroko road said, "as I was made to understand, the road is an international road linking up Benin Republic. Therefore, it is a very important road and I assure you that we from FRSC, shall do everything possible to ensure that the road is reconstructed, or rehabilitated.
"I want to intimate you that FRSC National Headquarters has concluded preparations to deploy officers to all the Local Governments in the country including Ogun State where they will serve as station officers, and already, we have posted some people here.
He said that the main reason for transferring the officers to Local Governments was for them to interface with the grassroots on behalf of FRSC, especially in terms of policy advocacies.
