To have served ones father's land for a meritorious 35 years and retired without any blemish most especially as a Police Officer truly deserves a great lots of grace.
For DSP Ojo Salihu, he and other friends including his immediate boss, a very good spirited individual, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Akingbehin, the day marked a very special day as Ojo Salihu bows out gracefully from Police Force
Friday, December, 15th, 2023 was a day set aside to celebrate this ebullient retired officer.
It was gale of prayers, commendations and best wishes as family, friends associates and colleagues of Deputy Superintendent of Police Ojo Salihu gathered at the Nigeria Police officers Mess, GRA, Ibara, on Friday to celebrate him as he bows out of service.
The Royal father of the day, the Alawowo of Awowo, Oba Abdulgafar Olasunkanmi Tijani who offered royal blessings to the retired Police officer described him as retired but not tired officer, who has contributed immensely to the force at different departments before finally ending it meritoriously at EOD- CRBN Base 12, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Monarch added that the presence of many from far and near to the occasion showed the good type of person that DSP(rtd) Ojo Salihu has been.
He prayed that as the retiree will be on another pedestal, God will continue to strengthen and abide by him.
In his remarks,the Commander EOD,CRBN, Base 12, ACP Taiwo akingbehin admonished officers that are still in service to always be available for each other and if any has not been doing so, still have opportunity to put things right.
He said" Instead of building a higher fence,, build a wider table to accommodate people" as doing this will make you closer to God..
"Think inward while you are still in service, what you do today show tomorrow, it is what you plant that you will reap
" This gentleman we are celebrating today, I can vouch for him and beat my chest for he has been of good character. I congratulate you and pray that you won't proceed unto death, calamity as you retire from service.
" All good things you are yet to get while in service while be added unto you by the grace of God". He prayed.
The Chairman of the occasion and Chief Executive Officer of AY Motors, Alhaji Yekinni Ismail, described the retiree as a man of honour and humility who has been known to him for the past 15'years.He enjoined those still in service to imbibe the good conduct of the retiree.
"Those still in service should always be good to people,so that the relationship built while in service will still continue thereafter".
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ojo Salihu(rtd) enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 1st December, 1988 and trained at the Police College Kaduna, Kaduna State where he passed out as constable.
In 1995, the celebrant was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In 2003, DSP Salihu was promoted to the rank of sergeant, Inspector in 2011 and in 2018 became ASP 11 and ASP 1 in 2020.
He, however, rose to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, in 2023.
He is an indigene of kogi State, Adavi Local Government Area of kogi State.
His working experience spanned various departments in Kwara,, Edo, Abia States before he was finally transferred to EOD-CRBN Base 12, Abeokuta, Ogun state in 2016 where he served and successfully retired.
Highlights of the celebration include cutting of retirement Cake,celebrant Dance with family and presentation of gifts.
