Reactions Trail mob action against alleged LGBT member

With the arrest and escape of some suspected group of Gay and bisexual members, and the subsequent violent reactions from some youths, a community leader who pleads anonymity has condemned the attack on the home of one Ogundeyi Sunday Ayomide an alleged bisexual in Lagos.

A Source told Our Correspondent that Ogundeyi Sunday Ayomide, who just got to Lagos was declared wanted by the NSCDC, Gombe Command following his involvement in a gay Marriage.

It was gathered that on his relocation to his friend, house at No 2 Igbeyinadun street, Oshodi

Lagos and the sighting of his picture by the youths, they allegedly swooped on his home located at Oshodi area of Lagos State.

Though they did not meet him at home, adding that for some months now, his whereabouts remains unknown.

Speaking on the attack, Our source said some irate mob attacked and set ablaze the suspected home where they thought Ogundeyi Sunday Ayomide was hibernating in his friends house in Oshodi, Lagos State.

He said Ogundeyi who just relocated to the place from Gombe, but has been on the wanted list of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps

He described their action as

unacceptable and against the law, just as LGBT was also against the law.

According to him, the mob, who are members of the community, accused Ogundeyi Sunday Ayomide of belonging to an unholy group of homosexuals and it's detrimental to the good conduct of the community.

"We gathered that news filtered into the community that he has been hiding in the community after fleeing from a gay party in Gombe, in 2023.

"Upon unveiling the identity of the accused, the irate mob resorted to taking laws into their hands to send him out of the community.

"The mob accused him of corrupting the psyche of their children to believe there is nothing wrong with gay and lesbianism," he said.

He reiterated that Nigeria's anti-gay law of 2014 signed by President Goodluck Jonathan, stipulated a 14-year prison term for anyone involved in same sex relationship or marriage.

He advised the youth to allow the law to take its course rather than taking laws into their hands.

"We all know that popular tradition, religion and law in Nigeria are against homosexual; the law does not equally support jungle justice," he said.
