ABEOKUTA, the Ogun State Capital on Wednesday and Thursday stood still as Eminent Nigerians, mainly religious leaders and political juggernauts from across Nigeria converged on the Rock City to bid farewell to the wife of the Founder and Lead Pastor of Victory Life Bible Church International.
A first timer in Abeokuta would definitely know that something remarkable and epoch-making was going on in the relatively quiet City.
The long Convoy that welcomed the body at the popular NNPC Junction in the morning of Wednesday was a clear testament to the fact that the late Reverend Fola Achudume was well loved and held in high Esteem by many.
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who was stood-in for by his Deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedelè while extolling the virtues of the late fiery cleric described her as a true ambassador of Christ and a champion for women.
"Reverend Achudume was an èmbodiment of grace and strength, committed to creating a better society ", Governor Abiodun said.
He urged the Achudume family, members of the congregation, associates and well Wishers to be consoled in the fact that the late "woman-of-many-parts" was à lready resting in the bossom of her Creator.
Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, wife òf the Ogun State taking turn to pay tribute to the late Preacher explained that her preachings and ministrations were so captivating and life-changing, describing her as a "General in God's army" whose impact in the vineyard of God, community and humanity as a whole would remain evergreen.
"Her passing is a deep loss, but her legacy of love, compassion, and service will continue to inspire us all", she remarked.
The Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno who was also on hand to honour the Achudumes showered encomiums on the late Reverend Achudume's life of devotion and service, referring to her as an "amazon" whose contributions to the uplift of women and youth were very remarkable.
He admonished the family to be rest assured that her life was well‐lived and purposeful.
Delivering a power-soaked sermon at the funeral service, the General Overseer of El-Buba Outreach Ministry International, Prophet Isa El-Buba reminded the congregation that life is a journey which must one day come to an end, and harped on the need for people to embrace righteousness.
He lauded the late Minister‐Of-God for stamping her footsteps in the sands of time, stating, "She has impacted many lives across the nation, and her memory will continue to be a blessing."
Pastor Femi Emmanùel, the Presiding Pastor of Livingspring Chapel International, the previous night, spoke on the topic "God's Sovereignty In Life And Death", noting that God's sovereignty is not limited, he said, cautioning that God's ways are not our ways.
"We see in part, and nobody fully discerns God's ways".
Pastor Emmanuel emphasized that Apostle Lawrence Achudume à nd the VLBC Church had not failed, with the passing of Reverend Fola Achudume, but rather had witnessed her glorious transition into eternal rest.
On her part, Mrs Martha Emmanuel, the former First Lady of Akwa-Ibom State while baring her mind on the life and times of Reverend Fola Achudume described her as a "God-sent woman" who had the milk of human kindness flowing in her veins.
Contributing, Reverend Funke Adejumo, Wife of the General Overseer of Agà pe Christian Ministries described the late Preacher as someone very strong in faith, with a heart of gold, and prayed that God grants her soul eternal rest.
Apostle Lawrence Achudume who was flanked by their four children during the events was undoubtedly very gladdened by the wide array of dignitaries who had come from far and near to honour them.
For even In death, Reverend Fola Achudume whose image was indeed towering remains a heroine.
