The Osun State security outfit, O- Strong has said it is on the trail of one Farouq Alabi for allegedly engaging in a homosexual escapade, an offence deemed contrary to the laws of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria.
This action followed an incident that
occurred in January, 2022, at a bank premise where Farouq who works as a cleaner in the Bank was caught by a security officer attached to the Bank while engaging in a deep kiss with his sex partner, Mubarak Olayiwola outside the bank premise.
Mr Farouq was reportedly sacked by the Bank, but he was seriously on the search light of the O-Strong security outfit in the State who strongly opposed to homosexuality.
In the wake of this action, the security outfit have urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest office of the command warning that those who harbour or assist Farouq Alabi will face serious actions.
In an effort to escape the
threats and stigma he experienced, Mr.Farouq Alabi was according to information, shunned from social gatherings and ostracised from various circles, it is gathered that he now lives in constant fear for his safety.
The legal framework in Nigeria exacerbates the difficulties faced by bisexual individuals. The Same-Sex
Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2014 criminalizes any form of same-sex relationships, including bisexuality,
allowing for the arrest and prosecution of individuals based on their sexual orientation.
For Farouq Alabi this harsh reality has become a daily ordeal, compounding the physical and emotional trauma he has endured.
